"You Don't Take a Photograph, You Make It"
Ansel Adams

My family and I take a lot of pictures and video! For me, It started as a way to stay connected with friends on Instagram and Tik Tok. But over the last five years, we have made an effort to use photographs to document our family experiences. My mom surprised me last Christmas with a wall full of Mixtiles (photos printed on big canvas squares) in my bedroom.

I look at these pictures every day and am reminded of the personal journey to find my authentic self and the role that travel, nature, and animals play.

I have had some great opportunities to spend time in beautiful places like Hawaii, Costa Rica, Paris, London, Utah, Montana, Maine, and Vermont. I like to capture the places I have traveled because it helps me remember how I felt at that moment. It is no surprise to me that many of my favorite photos are of nature. The solitude of a quiet walk in the woods calms my feelings of anxiety. I feel very grateful that my family lives in Vermont in this time of Covid-19, and nature and fresh air surround me.

Hover over each picture below to see what I felt in that place at that moment.
Fairy Tale Forest - Bromley Mountain. The last trail of the day as we skied home. After a snow storm it is Magical, and so PEACEFUL.
My view from the classroom at Mountain Campus. There is nothing better than snow on trees! INSPIRED.
This is the sunrise I wake up to almost every morning. It is a great way to start the day. ANTICIPATION
I thought it looked like this driftwood was trying to crawl back into the water. TRANQUIL.
Sunset at Acadia this last August. There is no filter on this picture! I could not believe the colors. AWE
This is the farm right across our driveway. It is the first thing I think of when I think about Vermont. HAPPY
My family spent Thanksgiving in London and Paris in 2018. It breaks my heart to know I will never see Notre Dame like this again. SAD.
On the road home. These red leaves remind me of hearts marching upwards toward the sky. HOPEFUL.
Chihuly Gardens Seattle. This place was cool! AMAZED.
